The project of the new building for the Municipality of the Swedish town is a significant work inspired by the recovery and the adoption of new solutions with a sustainability perspective.
1,000 square metres of solar cells cover part of the roof, providing 100 MWh of solar energy for the car charging stations. The remaining part of the roofs host various types of herbs and plants that act as insulation elements against heat, cold and noise.
The complex is a structure of approximately 14,000 square metres: a public area of about 7,000 square metres and a 1,500-square-metre courtyard protected by a glass roof that extends for 40×40 metres.
Metalltech used its expanded metal mesh to produce some internal coverings that give identity to the building.
The project won the “Building of the Year 2022” award from the magazine Byggindustrin.
