Rhythm and color
Architectural Firm: Lanz-Schwager Architekten BDA
Year: 2012
Mesh model:
For the realization of the project, the architects focused on three key words: rhythm, color, and fun.
The facades of the vocational institute are composed of narrow, alternating windows separated by expanded metal panels measuring 5.5 meters in width.
The expanded metal wraps around the entire building like a second skin, allowing light to filter into the spacious interiors accompanied by sculptural stairs.
The changing structure is made attractive by three different shades of green and orange, specifically chosen by the designers.
For its aesthetic and functional qualities, the Center for Spatial Education was awarded the prestigious Hugo Häring Ulm – Donau – Iller Prize in 2014.
